An ardent follower of art house films, the dusky Bengali beauty has more often than not shied away from making appearances in commercial cinema. While Konkona Sen Sharma brushes off such complains made against her and says that she is open to all kinds of good films, it is her wicked character in her latest release Mirch that the actress would love to portray onscreen again.

Though many within the film industry would refrain from performing in a film that is sexually explicit, Konkona Sen Sharma wants more such roles to come her way! In a statement to the media, the Bengali and Hindi film actress says that such kind of characters pose a challenge to her as it has not often been portrayed on the Bollywood screen. KoKo, as she is lovingly called by her friends in the industry, loves the wicked streak that cheating women show and loves enacting it onscreen!

Are Bollywood filmmakers listening? Because we have only seen the lovely actress playing extremely roles. Be it the National Award winning performance in Page 3 or the box office superhit Life In A Metro, Konkona Sen Sharma has always been seen in a serious avatar. Therefore her wicked act in Mirch was loved not only by the actress but also by the audience. The movie opened among mixed reactions yesterday.

Konkona Sen Sharma1 200x266Actress Konkona Sen Sharma does not believe in playing coy on screen and neither does she shy away from speaking her heart out to the media. Her latest film Mirch has hit the screens and Bollywood is already talking about the bold Konkona Sen Sharma in the film. In a statement to the media, Konkona Sen Sharma says that she does play bold in Mirch but that was because of the necessity of the script. The Vinay Shukla directed film centers on the subject of adultery in a relationship and gender equality.
Defending her skin show in Mirch, Konkona Sen Sharma says that her character Lavni, a queen from the medieval ages is the wife of a king who has already attained the age of 40. Therefore, she is not happy with her sexual life and does not miss any opportunity in seducing every young man that she sets eyes upon. The actress is of the opinion that in real life too it is impossible to stop getting attracted to different people we come across everyday. But Konkona Sen Sharma is also quick to say that infidelity in a relationship and breaking the trust of someone who loves you is a very wrong thing.
At present, Konkona Sen Sharma is happily married to actor Ranvir Shorey and though the actress is of the opinion that it is difficult to remain monogamous in this age, we hope that their marriage lasts forever.

BollywoodWorld.com, Konkona Sen Sharma may be neck deep in work at the present moment but she will take a break after this year Christmas, says the actress. Waiting eagerly for the release of films like Mirch and ‘Iti Mrinalini’, Konkona Sen Sharma says that she is very happy to be a part of different types of cinema. ‘Iti Mrinalini’ is a film very close to Konkona’s heart considering that it has been made by her mother Aparna Sen, and the just married actress is very excited and eagerly awaiting the release of Aparna Sen’s upcoming directorial venture. The audience too, is very eager to watch Konkona Sen Sharma in her mother’s movie again as this may be yet another National Award winning performance!
Konkona Sen SharmaWhile ‘Iti Mrinalini’ describes the life of an actress named Mrinalini, the younger being played by Konkona Sen Sharma and the older version by her mother Aparna Sen, Mirch is a more coming-of-age film which deals on a variety of topics relevant in a woman’s life including her sex life. Asked as to whether she does not feel that such bold cinema is still not accepted in Indian society, Konkona promptly replies that movie goers have evolved and are comfortable with sex on screen.
After Mirch and ‘Iti Mrinalini’ it will be no work and only rest for the dusky Bong beauty. Yes, she is expecting her first child with actor husband Ranvir Shorey and will thus not be seen in film sets until the middle of next year. Marriage has not changed her much, stresses Konkona Sen Sharma, so will being a mother bring any change? To get that answer we will have to wait for a while longer, just like we will have to wait to watch Konkona on screen again.
